"I Dormienti", Mimmo Paladino, 1998

The artwork is composed of several sculptures in earthenware which portray crocodiles and human beings in foetal position, lying on dark iron boards, smaller for animals and larger for humans.
Each sculpture has a different shade, depending on the material used for its realisation and every “Sleeper” has been collocated on the reservoir for the colleciton of waters, behind the forehead of the Spring of Fays, whose structure has six wide pointed arches.
The spring (see Spring of Fays in Architectural paths) is fed by the water seeping from the soil above and the water level changes depending on rainfall, sometimes drowning the sculptures.
